When choosing a materials supplier, keep in mind that not all CAD materials are created equal.
Here is what you should look for when choosing a CAD material:
Choosing the right material
When choosing a material for your job, there are several things that you need to take into consideration.
Type of fabric/substrate you’re printing on:
Cotton, polyester, poly/cotton blends, nylon, Lycra®, blends, and acrylics
Intended use of garment:
How often will this garment be washed? Does it need to withstand the rigors of contact sports?
Is this an item that will never be washed, such as a CD-case, or sports bag? Does the garment need to be ironed or dry-cleaned?
Desired texture of logo or name:
What is the desired end result? Some material surfaces can be texturized to produce various finishes, such as shiny, heavy, matte, or glossy effects. It all depends on which cover sheet you use.
Material Preference:
There are different types of materials on the Market, Poly-urethane and Poly Vinyl Chloride.
In addition, there are thin materials that blend into the garment and those that are slightly thicker for ruggedness
and durability.
